Gennaro Santaniello’s original oil painting *Pressed Taste 2 - Reclaimed Icons series* (2026) depicts a still life in a Pop Art style.
Description from the seller
Sabor Original is an original oil painting from my Reclaimed Icons series, a body of work exploring mass-produced objects transformed by human use.
The painting depicts a crushed Coca-Cola can, an instantly recognizable symbol of global consumer culture, now deformed and stripped of its original function.
Its dents, folds and compressed surface reveal the traces of human interaction. What was once a perfectly standardized industrial product has become an individual object, shaped by pressure, consumption and time.
In Reclaimed Icons, I explore the moment when everyday objects cease to be anonymous products and begin to carry their own histories. The act of crushing interrupts industrial uniformity, transforming something designed to be identical and disposable into a singular contemporary relic.
The familiar red surface, distorted lettering and reflections of light emphasize the contrast between the precision of industrial design and the unpredictable marks left by human gestures.
Through realistic oil painting, Sabor Original elevates a discarded object into a contemporary still life, inviting reflection on consumer culture, memory and the unexpected individuality of ordinary things.
What was designed to be consumed and discarded becomes an object of contemplation, preserved through painting.
Original oil painting on canvas.
Dimensions: 30 × 45 cm.
Signed by the artist.
