Northern Ireland at Mexico 1986

Northern Ireland participated in the 1986 Mexican World Cup after the excellent experience in Spain 82. The team included several players well known in British football of the time.

Particularly noteworthy is the presence of Pat Jennings, historic Northern Irish goalkeeper and one of the most representative players of his nation. Sticker #276 depicts him in the Northern Ireland kit and is one of the most recognizable in the section.

Another name of great interest is Norman Whiteside, present at #290. Whiteside had already been a star in the 1982 World Cup, when he became famous for being one of the youngest players to take part in a World Cup finals.

The lot also includes Gerry Armstrong, remembered especially for his performances with the Northern Irish national team in the Eighties, as well as Billy Hamilton, Sammy McIlroy, Mal Donaghy, Jimmy Nicholl, John McClelland, and Alan McDonald.
