Spain at the Mexico 1986 World Cup

The Spanish national team participated in the Mexican World Cup with a particularly interesting generation, made up of players from the major clubs of La Liga.

One of the most important names in the lot is certainly Emilio Butragueño, one of the symbols of Real Madrid in the 1980s and the absolute protagonist of the Mexican World Cup. The forward was one of the most representative players of the competition and remains one of the most recognizable figurines of the Spanish section.

Also present is Andoni Zubizarreta, historic goalkeeper of the Spanish national team, along with prestigious players such as José Antonio Camacho, Rafael Gordillo, Víctor Muñoz, Antonio Maceda, and Andoni Goicoechea.

Interesting also the presence of Enrique “Quique” Setién, who later became known as a coach.

The Spanish squad of the tournament indeed included, among others, Zubizarreta, Reñones, Camacho, Maceda, Víctor Muñoz, Gordillo, Señor, Goikoetxea, Butragueño, Setién, Urruticoechea, Gallego, Rincón and Calderé.
