Roger David Sánchez Portela’s 2026 original oil painting on canvas, Alazán al Viento, is a realistic portrait of a chestnut horse, hand-signed and measuring 72.5 × 52 cm.
Description from the seller
Alazán al Viento
Portrait of a robust-built bay horse, captured at the instant the wind lifts its blonde mane. The animal advances toward the viewer with its head slightly turned and a fixed gaze, and the white blaze running across its face marks the focal point of the composition. The figure occupies almost the entire frame, which underlines its volume and presence.
The artist works the coat in glazes of reds, sienna and ochres, with highlights that model the musculature of the neck and chest. The mane, with light brushwork and long strokes, contrasts with the density of the body and conveys a sense of movement. In the background, a blurred landscape of greens and yellows with distant mountains and a pale blue sky makes the figure stand out without competing with it. The result is a work of naturalistic realism, with attention to anatomical detail and to the light, within the tradition of the equestrian portrait.
