Mila Veljaca’s signed original oil painting “Intendant – Johan Simons” is a 2020 portrait measuring 120 × 80 cm.
Description from the seller
Intendant – Johan Simons
An expressive portrait of the Dutch theater director and intendant Johan Simons.
The face is at the center of the work. Prominent features, a focused gaze, and the restrained presentation give the portrait an immediate presence.
Cool gray and blue tones, strong black accents, and open areas of paper define the composition. While the face stands out clearly, the torso gradually dissolves into sketchy lines and transparent color fields.
The combination of oil painting and ink lets drawing and painting blend into one another. The portrait moves between careful observation and free painterly interpretation.
“Intendant – Johan Simons” is a contemporary figurative original work that concentrates on the personality and the unmistakable expression of the portrayed person.
Original work, oil and ink on paper, 120 × 80 cm.

About me:
"My painting moves at the boundary between figuration and abstraction – a tension-filled dialogue of expressive gesture, intense color worlds, and intuitive dynamics.
Inspired by the energy of Abstract Expressionism, which moves between body and dissolution, chaos and harmony."
Each work is a process of questioning and rediscovery:
Lines break through surfaces.
Figures appear and disappear again.
An emotionally charged dance between control and relinquishment."
