The 1997 Longines Hour Angle Lindbergh, reference L2.617.4, is an automatic wristwatch with a 38 mm stainless-steel case.
Description from the seller
On May 21, 1927, Charles Lindbergh landed in Paris after 33 hours of flying solo across the Atlantic. On his wrist was a watch he had designed himself in collaboration with Longines to solve one of aviation’s most practical challenges at the time: calculating longitude in flight.
Seventy years later, Longines produced this faithful reissue of the Lindbergh Hour Angle, with all the complexity of the original scales intact. The outer bezel synchronizes the onboard chronometer and adjusts longitude. The inner black scale measures degrees in hours, the red scale in minutes, and the minutes/seconds scale converts time into degrees. A complete navigation system on the wrist, powered by the automatic L 619.2 movement based on the ETA 2892A2 — 21 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour — with a mineral crystal exhibition caseback that lets you admire the movement.
The strap and buckle are original Longines. Provenance was verified directly by Longines Brand Heritage following direct feedback from the manufacturer: serial number 28422531, invoiced on September 24, 1997 to Swatch Group Italia.
A piece for those who collect history, not just watches.
