Description from the seller
[Porcelain from China / East India Company] Rare lidded soup tureen with two flat festooned handles, in export porcelain Imari from China – Décor of peonies and arabesques – China, Qianlong period (1736–1795)
A regular and elegant lidded tureen (or bouillon pot / small covered soup tureen) equipped with two flat festooned handles featuring arabesque motifs, made in hard-plying porcelain during the Qianlong era (18th century) for the Western export market (East India Company).
Style & Decoration:
Decoration in the so-called Chinese Imari palette, combining underglaze blue, iron-red on the glaze, and subtle gilding highlights.
The sides of the vessel and the domed lid are adorned with a rich, rotating pattern of blooming peony branches and sinuous leafy arabesques.
The lid is crowned with a pointed lotus bud knob painted in underglaze blue and enhanced with gold.
The rim of the lid is outlined by a geometric frieze in iron-red (fret border).
The interior of the bowl features a floral swindle (fleuron) in iron-red and gold.
Technique & Material:
Hard-paste porcelain fired at high temperature, hand-painted. Unglazed base with tool marks from turning.
Origin: China (Jingdezhen) – export porcelain of the period.

Dimensions:
Total height (with lid): 14 cm
Diameter of the bowl: 16.9 cm
Overall condition: Excellent condition for an 18th-century Chinese porcelain piece.
Details: No major chipping, no cracks on the body, and no restoration.
