This painting represents a tranquil pond surrounded by vegetation, where numerous floating leaves and pink aquatic flowers scatter across the water surface. The gaze is drawn to the turquoise blue reflection that runs through the center and the foreground, like a luminous band that makes its way through the darker areas. Around it, greens, deep blues and some violet hues form a serene and enveloping landscape. The scene invites one to pause before the pond’s stillness and to discover how light transforms its colors and reflections.

Rounded leaves of the water lilies occupy much of the surface, distributed in irregular clusters that reveal water spaces between them. Their tones vary from light and yellowish greens to darker and bluish hues that seem to capture the color of the shadows and surrounding vegetation. Some leaves overlap and others remain isolated, creating a slow visual rhythm that guides the eye from the edges to the center. Among them appear small pink and white flowers, whose delicate petals stand out against the dark background and bring notes of freshness and color.

The water, far from being uniform, is full of nuances and reflections. In the center it becomes lighter and brighter, with sky-blue tones that seem to reflect an opening to the sky among the trees. Toward the sides, however, it darkens and gathers the greens, deep blues and shadows of the surroundings. This chromatic variation gives the impression that the pond has depth and that its surface changes with the light that reaches it. The reflections mingle with the leaves and draw a space where it is difficult to completely separate what floats from what is reflected.

In the background stands a band of tall, leafy trees that surround the pond like a natural shelter. Their vertical trunks and dense canopies form a frame of dark greens, pierced by some lighter touches suggesting light filtering through the branches. Above opens a portion of pale blue and slightly violet sky that lights the far part of the landscape and contrasts with the deep shadow of the vegetation. The difference between that luminous horizon and the darker foreground creates distance and envelops the scene in a fresh and silent atmosphere.

Overall, the work shows a peaceful natural corner, with a pond covered by water lilies and aquatic flowers under the shade of a lush woodland. The blue reflections, green leaves and small pink flowers balance in a composition that conveys stillness and harmony. The light that opens at the center of the water guides the gaze toward the background and suggests a sheltered, almost secret space where nature remains serene. The landscape invites contemplation of the surface details and to imagine the silence, the freshness and the calm of this place.
