C. Bucherer - Art Deco "Ermeto / Purse Watch" Sliding Clock - Unisex - 1930-1940

Object description
A beautiful and rare example of a mechanical travel watch (also known as a purse watch or slide watch) from the renowned Swiss luxury brand C. Bucherer (Lucerne). This type of watch exudes the pure aesthetics of the Art Deco era (circa 1930s/1940s).
The watch is cleverly mounted in a retractable/flip metal protective case. When the case is closed, the movement is fully protected, which at the time made it ideal for a handbag, travel case, or vest pocket. The back of the inner side bears the authentic engravings "C. Bucherer Lucerne" and the serial/model number "47 C".
The dial features a beautiful, time-worn patina that contributes to its authentic vintage character. It is fitted with classic, stylized black Arabic numerals, a refined railway-style minute track, and a separate sub-second hand at the 6 o’clock position. The watch is supplied with the matching silver-toned vintage snake chain with corresponding clasps.
