AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Start of a series: "The Visitors". They are representations of people or entities, a bit within the personal issue of my painting, which reflects an introspection and a search, inviting reflection on the loss of identity and the sense of belonging to a place and its culture.

Juan Chamizo, born in Cáceres, Spain, is an artist whose work focuses on exploring the human being through iconic portraiture and personal and cultural relationships. After emigrating to Venezuela in 1978, where he resided for more than 40 years, his work enriched with influences from the Caribbean and Europe, reflecting his experience and the complexity of cultural mestizaje. His work has been exhibited in various galleries and museums, mainly in Venezuela and Latin America, but also in Europe, and forms part of private and public collections in several countries.

His artistic practice is characterized by a particular use of texture and color, approaching figurative expressionism. To achieve his textures he uses a spatula, inspired by the scarifications of faces and bodies of some African peoples. This technique personalizes and unifies his works, in which he often combines figurative and abstract elements.

Since his return to Spain in 2018, Juan Chamizo has continued participating in collective exhibitions in cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, and Melilla, consolidating his career and presence in the artistic field.

Due to its size and for protection this work is sent unframed, rolled inside a tube.
