French school (XIX) - Madonna addolorata – firmato Monesì

Intense devotional image of French school, dating to the late 19th century and signed Monesì in the lower right. The figure of the Virgin emerges from a dark background, wrapped in a wide blue veil: the head tilted and the gathered gaze give the composition an intimate and contemplative character. The light on the face and the folds of the mantle create a delicate balance between cool tones and warm flesh tones.

The presentation is completed by a gilded frame and a red velvet mat, which emphasize the traditional character of the painting.
