Description from the seller
Oil on board 70 x 53 cm. signed at the bottom right. Work numbered 395. The frame is not included in the sale, but it is sent as a gift.
Daniel González Poblete was born in Ciudad Real in 1944, a passionate painter from a very young age, he began his artistic journey as a copyist at the Prado Museum at fifteen. Regarded by some as one of the most important painters of the last 50 years, the realism and hyperrealism of his works mark an era in the history of Spanish painting.
A meticulous detailer, Poblete does not settle for the ordinary and the real, but translates onto the canvas all his imaginative power. In his still life painting, he seems to play with reality and paint it to his liking, surpassing the representational and transporting us to the ephemera of the natural, where a magical world of droplets, melted paper, and stitches with thread makes us wonder, who would think of sewing an apple?
A display of technique, incredible use of texture in painting, and a master of transparencies and reflections, it is remarkable how far this artist can go with his sensitivity, precision, and mastery of the brush. The light in his paintings reaches straight to the soul.
