Description from the seller

Exceptional pair of monumental decorative porcelain vases, in the Sèvres style, richly adorned with mounts in gilt bronze. Standing at a remarkable height of about 136 cm each, these vases present an especially imposing architecture: an ovoid porcelain body, a flared upper neck, a domed lid surmounted by a bronze decorative element, bronze handles with ram-head motifs, a porcelain socle and a substantial gilt-bronze base. The two pieces feature different yet complementary polychrome decorations. One vase is adorned with a large figurative scene inspired by gallantry, set within a rich turquoise, floral and gilded surround. The other displays, notably, a pastoral landscape, also framed by gilded ornaments. The ensemble recalls the decorative vocabulary characteristic of the great French productions in the Louis XV / Louis XVI and Sèvres style, with abundant gold details, rocaille motifs, garlands, decorative trophies and bronze elements. The substantial bronze mounts contribute to the monumental character of the whole: handles, rings, frames, lid elements, and bases. Specifications: - Set: pair of 2 vases - Main material: porcelain - Mounts: gilt bronze - Style: Sèvres / French goût - Height: approximately 136 cm per vase - Maximum width: approximately 48 cm - Depth: approximately 43 cm - Weight: approximately 38 to 40 kg per vase - Total weight: approximately 76 to 80 kg - Decorations: figurative scenes, landscape, floral motifs and gilded ornaments - Decorative ram-head handles - No signature or identifiable manufacturer mark to date. The vases are composed of several parts joined in a traditional construction with a central support rod. Overall in good decorative condition considering their size and nature. Age-, use-, oxidation/patina of the mounts, and minor gilding variations may be present. The photographs are an integral part of the description and allow precise assessment of their condition. Due to their exceptional size, weight and fragility, special care will be required for transport. This pair forms a particularly spectacular decorative ensemble, suitable for a large residence, a private hotel, a hall, a gallery, or a significant collection of decorative arts.
