Description from the seller
Virginie T. 15 Crus Extra Brut Champagne embodies the vision of Maison Virginie T.: terroir-driven champagnes, produced in small batches from grapes grown in exceptional terroirs across Champagne. This cuvée brings together 15 crus, blended to highlight the complementary nature of the Montagne de Reims – renowned for the power and structure of its Pinot Noir – and the Côte des Blancs, the cradle of fine, refined Chardonnays.
Composed of 70% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier, this extra brut champagne expresses a seductive balance between freshness, roundness and depth. The Chardonnay brings tension, elegance and citrus notes, whilst the Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier enrich the wine with white fruit, generosity and a lovely structure on the palate.
Upon opening, the nose reveals white and stone fruits, accompanied by spicy, vanilla and slightly liquorice-like notes, enhanced by a delicate floral scent of old-fashioned roses. On the palate, the attack is lively and crisp, before the texture becomes supple, mouth-watering and persistent. The extra brut dosage, deliberately understated, allows the purity of the fruit, the minerality and the precision of the terroir to shine through.
Served between 8 and 10 °C, the Virginie T. 15 Crus Extra Brut is a versatile champagne, perfect for a special occasion, a sophisticated aperitif or a gourmet meal. It pairs elegantly with a generous portion of fish, seafood, poultry in a creamy sauce or a matured hard cheese. Gault&Millau specifically recommends pairing it with John Dory with Madagascan vanilla.
Thanks to its structure and freshness, this cuvée can be enjoyed now for its vibrancy, whilst offering ageing potential of several years when stored in the right cellar conditions. A bottle full of character, both approachable and gastronomic, which is sure to appeal to lovers of precise, lively and authentic champagnes.
