The precision of the measurement meets the unpredictability of existence. In this composition, the brass balance, custodian of an ancient idea of order and proportion, welcomes a presence foreign to its own logic. The butterfly introduces a silent discrepancy, challenging the criteria by which we assign weight, value, and meaning to things. The work thus moves between rigor and anomaly, suggesting that what escapes the norm does not necessarily constitute an error, but may reveal the very limits of the system that claims to measure it.

Sandra Chinelate is an Italian-Brazilian artist, a literature graduate, who finds in hyperrealist painting the preferred language of her research. Self-taught from childhood, she develops a painting sensibility based on meticulous observation of reality, exploring light, matter, transparency and depth through a technique capable of restoring to subjects an extraordinary visual presence.
Her research focuses on the precision of detail and the perceptual complexity of things, transforming objects and compositions into visually intense experiences. Through refined balances of light, color and perspective, Chinelate investigates what everyday gaze often neglects, revealing the hidden beauty in the texture of surfaces and in the relationship between forms, volumes and reflections.
Having moved to Italy, she pursues a personal artistic path in which the technical rigor of hyperrealism intertwines with a deep aesthetic sensibility. She mainly works with oil paints and mixed media on canvas and board.
Since 2005 she has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows.

Seller's Story

Sandra Chinelate is an Italian-Brazilian artist with a degree in Literature who lives and works in Italy. Since 2005 she has embarked on an intense and constant dialogue with art, developing a painting practice deeply rooted in the physical and existential investigation of the human being through the tools of figurative painting. Self-taught artist since childhood, Sandra Chinelate brings to her creative practice a sensitivity nurtured also by humanistic training and her sociolinguistic gaze. Having moved to Italy, she has oriented her research toward the representation of humanity in its multiple expressions, promoting an ideal meeting between individuals and different realities. In her works, age, skin colors, passions, fragility, and questions of existence coexist, observed with respect and returned without prejudice. Her painting is born from the desire to exalt the infinite facets of the human being, giving dignity and depth to every subject depicted. With equal dedication she focuses on the study of detail, light, and perspective—elements that characterize her personal interpretation of hyperrealism, an expressive language in which she has specialized since her first artistic experiments. Since 2005 she has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, working mainly with oil and mixed media on canvas and panel. For the catalog of one of her most important solo exhibitions, the Roman art critic Lea Mattarella dedicated a meaningful review to the artist, concluding with these words: “And if there is pain, if there is effort, Chinelate takes to heart the words of Rumi, the medieval Sufi poet, convinced that ‘the wound is the point from which light can enter inside you.’” This vision seems to thread through Sandra Chinelate’s entire poetics: the light that emerges from vulnerability becomes the principle through which the artist interprets the human soul and the world of objects. In her works, people and things share the same balance of importance and order, taking part in a visual narrative that celebrates the complexity of existence and the possibility of transforming every experience into awareness and beauty.
