Giuseppe Volò belongs to an important family of painters specializing in floral paintings, active in Milan in the second half of the seventeenth century and composed of the father Vincenzo Volò, the sisters Francesca Volò Smiller, called Vicenzina, and Margherita Volò Caffi. Following in his father's footsteps, he specialized in flower painting, yet enriching his production with influences from Roman and Neapolitan circles of Franz Werner Von Tamm and Andrea Belvedere, with whom he may have been in contact.
