Emma Rytoft is a Swedish artist and muralist with 15 years of experience across art and architecture. As a mother and an artist, she explores the importance of care and nurture in sustaining both human life and the natural world. Her work challenges a culture focused on exploitation and constant productivity, instead drawing attention to empathy, connection and respect for life.
Drawing on her background in architecture and experiences living in five countries, Rytoft brings a strong sense of composition and emotional depth to her work. She paints on canvas and creates large-scale murals featuring pregnant women, mothers and children, often blending human figures with plants, animals and other elements from nature. Her distinctive style combines bold colours, strong black outlines and symbolic imagery to celebrate the strength and creativity of motherhood and make the often unseen work of caregiving visible.
Rytoft has exhibited her work in Berlin, Shanghai, London and New York, and has created murals for organisations and companies including Deutsche Bahn, Covivio and GIZ, among others. Across both her paintings and public art, she explores how care shapes our relationships with one another and the world around us, inviting viewers to reconsider what we value and what sustains us.
