Description from the seller
Vincenzo Caiazza – “Naples”
Naples stretches out before the viewer in a broad panoramic vista, in which the pattern of buildings follows the curve of the gulf to the slopes of Vesuvius. The volcano, recognizable by its distinctive profile, dominates the horizon in shades of blue and violet, while the sea opens into a vast expanse of azure, dotted with small sails and slender, shimmering wakes.
In the foreground, palaces, terraces, and rooftops overlap in a dense tapestry of whites, ochres, pinks, and grays, broken by patches of dark vegetation. Castel dell’Ovo rises at the water’s edge as an architectural focal point of the view. A burst of fuchsia flowers enlivens the lower part of the painting, adding an intense accent. The fragmented brushwork conveys the vitality of the city, setting it against the calm of the gulf and the mountain’s majestic presence.
