This concerns a very beautiful little work by the well-known marine painter Henk Dekker 1897-1974. Oil on artist's board. Signed and dated 1934. With the beautiful matching frame, a jewel on the wall. Henk Dekker Gouda 1897 - 1974 The Hague Henk Dekker (Gouda, 1897 – 1960) was largely self-taught as a painter, although he is reportedly said to have received guidance from H.J. van Weele. He specialized in marines: seascapes with or without ships. Dekker made numerous trips aboard different ships and worked not only along the Dutch coast but also in France, Belgium, Sweden, England, Spain and Morocco. His work is characterized by a realistic depiction of sea and sky, with particular attention to the changing light and atmospheric effects above the water.
