Description from the seller
Provence Rubenson – La Vérité à vif (2026)
Original painting – Contemporary art, symbolic expressionism
Description of the work
"La Vérité à vif" is an original work by Haitian artist Provence Rubenson, also known by the artistic name RUBENSTHEPAINTALIST.
Created in 2026 with acrylic paint on canvas, entirely by hand with a brush, this composition explores the power of human emotions, sincerity, and the sometimes painful consequences of truth.
At the center of the work appears an enigmatic, unsettling face, partially erased and as if consumed by a tormented pictorial matter. Its red and gold eyes retain an intense gaze. Under one of them, sutures evoke wounds, experiences lived, and the marks they can leave.
The peculiarity of this composition lies in the portrayal of an anatomical human heart that symbolically takes on the expressive function of the mouth.
This heart does not protrude from the character and is not swallowed up: it becomes its language.
The multicolored flames that animate it symbolize the diversity of human feelings: love, joy, anger, frustration, suffering, hope, and revolt. Their mix translates the complexity of emotions and their contradictions.
Through this representation, the artist questions the price of sincerity. Saying what one truly feels can liberate, but also disturb, wound, or provoke rejection.
The face fades, but its inner truth remains present.
The contrasts of black, red, and gold, combined with the reliefs and movement of matter, give this painting a strong expressive intensity.
Between abstract figuration, symbolism, and contemporary expressionism, "La Vérité à vif" invites the viewer to look beyond appearances to discover a deeply human emotional language.
"When words are no longer enough, the heart takes the floor."
