ORIGINAL Painting, character portraiture by ARVY

The painting is 100% hand-painted using highly pigmented artist-grade acrylic paints, and finished with a UV-protective satin varnish. It is created on unprimed, firm, robust, and kink-resistant gallery-quality canvas (360 g/m²) without a stretcher frame.
Dimensions: 105x165 cm (entire canvas)

Artwork Overview:

They spoke three different languages and somehow understood everything.

Across a brilliant yellow field, three beings meet without sharing a common anatomy. On the left, a blue face carries a single searching eye and a red mouth. In the centre, an inverted triangular head holds one watchful eye above a constellation of smaller features. On the right, the figure has almost entirely become an eye, while its mouth appears displaced onto the dark body below. Each seems invented according to different rules, yet together they form a perfectly balanced conversation.

In No Translation, ARVY imagines connection before grammar. The characters communicate through presence rather than explanation: an open gaze, a pause, a colour answering another colour. What initially appears strange becomes emotionally familiar, suggesting that the deepest forms of understanding often begin where ordinary language ends.

Saturated yellow fills the painting with warmth and immediacy. Cobalt blue, vermilion red, black and white establish a bold graphic rhythm, while circles, triangles and rectangular bodies create a playful exchange of opposing forms. Deliberately naïve distortion meets raw neo-expressionist brushwork; scratches and unfinished lines move across the surface like fragments of interrupted sentences.

These characters never become alike in order to connect. They remain entirely peculiar and still manage to find one another. The painting transforms difference into dialogue—and silence into a language shared by all three.

Artist Bio:
ARVY is a fourth-generation artist continuing a family legacy of visual and performance art. He studied painting at an art college, graduating in 2016, and has been active in the art world ever since.

Raised in a creative household, ARVY began his artistic path in childhood while assisting his father — painter, illusionist and performer Arvydas Gaičiūnas ( Retne ), co-founder of Magic Theater DiArchy. This early exposure to both visual art and stage performance shaped his distinctive, theatrical sensibility.

ARVY’s work is eclectic and emotionally charged, blending elements of contemporary expressionism, symbolism, street energy, and poetic abstraction. His pieces explore contrasts — chaos and harmony, intuition and control — reflecting the pulse of modern life through vivid color and raw gesture.

He has exhibited internationally and his works are held in private collections across Europe. Beyond painting, ARVY is also known for his creative versatility as a musician and digital creator, bringing the same intensity and imagination to sound, movement, and image.

Thank you for considering ARVY’s work. This portrait is sure to be a standout addition to any collection of modern or contemporary art!
