AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Beautiful oil painting by Piet van Wijngaerdt (1873–1964), the Dutch painter known for his powerful, impressionistic landscapes and his important role within Amsterdam luminism.
The painting shows a characteristic Dutch polder landscape with a windmill, reed beds and a body of water under an impressive cloudscape. The warm earth tones, vibrant greens, and broad, expressive brushstrokes give the work a particularly atmospheric character.
The composition is characterized by a low horizon and an expansive sky, in which Van Wijngaerdt's sense of light, color and atmosphere is beautifully expressed.
