Tempora pocket-watch chronograph with quarter-hour and minute repeater, dating from 1850–1900, with a manual-winding movement and 18-carat yellow-gold case.
Description from the seller
Important Swiss Témpora pocket watch, dating from the late 19th/early 20th century, crafted in 18-karat gold and featuring a hand-wound mechanical movement with particularly interesting complications: hour, quarter and minute repeater and chronograph function.
The watch has a refined 18K gold case with a double hinged back. The inner case back is embellished with a richly engraved commemorative inscription for the Grand Prix C.L. Paris 1900, accompanied by depictions of medals and inscriptions. The Témpora brand is also present; it was registered in 1883 by the Swiss manufacturer Guye & Barbezat, founded in 1867 by Henri Victor Jean Guye and Charles-Ami Barbezat.
The white enamel dial features black Roman numerals, an outer minute track and a subsidiary seconds counter. The main hands are crafted in delicate gold filigree, while the chronograph function is indicated by a slim, straight black hand. Opening the case back gives access to the movement, which is further protected by a transparent glass cover, allowing its complex mechanical architecture to be admired.
