AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

- First Impressions -
ORIGINAL Painting, character portraiture by ARVY

The painting is 100% hand-painted using highly pigmented artist-grade acrylic paints, and finished with a UV-protective satin varnish. It is created on unprimed, firm, robust, and kink-resistant gallery-quality canvas (360 g/m²) without a stretcher frame.
Dimensions: 105x165 cm (entire canvas)

Artwork Overview:

They rehearsed their expressions. Their eyes forgot the script.

Three unlikely figures assemble against a pale, restless ground like strangers introduced seconds before a group photograph. On the left, a face is divided into floating eyes, a tiny triangular nose and bright red lips, with a golden crown hovering overhead. The central character wears a dark triangular face beneath a green crown, its wide eyes and clenched smile revealing nervous energy. On the right, an angular blue-and-black figure glances sideways while two antenna-like circles rise above its head, as if searching for the correct social signal. A separate eye watches from the lower edge, turning the viewer into both witness and participant.

In First Impressions, ARVY transforms an ordinary introduction into psychological comedy. Each character has prepared an exterior—crown, colour, posture—yet small fractures reveal uncertainty beneath the performance. Their expressions contain the simultaneous desire to be noticed and the fear of being misunderstood.

Warm cream, ochre and muted grey create an open stage for the graphic black forms. Red, cobalt blue, forest green and violet provide vivid points of tension. Deliberately naïve distortion meets neo-expressionist brushwork, while scratches, splatters and unfinished lines resemble thoughts escaping before anyone speaks.

Beneath the strangeness lies tenderness: everyone wants to be accepted before knowing exactly how to present themselves. A first impression is not a verdict—only the awkward beginning of being seen.

Artist Bio:
ARVY is a fourth-generation artist continuing a family legacy of visual and performance art. He studied painting at an art college, graduating in 2016, and has been active in the art world ever since.

Raised in a creative household, ARVY began his artistic path in childhood while assisting his father — painter, illusionist and performer Arvydas Gaičiūnas ( Retne ), co-founder of Magic Theater DiArchy. This early exposure to both visual art and stage performance shaped his distinctive, theatrical sensibility.

ARVY’s work is eclectic and emotionally charged, blending elements of contemporary expressionism, symbolism, street energy, and poetic abstraction. His pieces explore contrasts — chaos and harmony, intuition and control — reflecting the pulse of modern life through vivid color and raw gesture.

He has exhibited internationally and his works are held in private collections across Europe. Beyond painting, ARVY is also known for his creative versatility as a musician and digital creator, bringing the same intensity and imagination to sound, movement, and image.

Thank you for considering ARVY’s work. This portrait is sure to be a standout addition to any collection of modern or contemporary art!
