Both paintings share the same format, lacquered wooden frame, and identical theme. In this work in particular, the characteristic elements are:
• Inclusion of a windmill: On the left side of the composition, in the background, a traditional-bladed windmill can be seen, which further reinforces the classic iconography of the Dutch rural landscape.
• Genre scene: The main road shows three human figures (one of them seated) next to an old farm with worn thatched and tile roofs, in a arrangement very similar to that of your first painting.
• Signature: In the lower right corner the artist’s signature stands out again in reddish tones.
As is usual in mid-20th-century commercial production, this type of piece was painted and framed to match in pairs to decorate living rooms or hallways symmetrically.
