HAL SUNDAY (1930)’s original acrylic painting “Red Corner – 100% Handmade” is a hand-signed 2026 portrait measuring 40 × 60 cm.
Description from the seller
HAL SUNDAY (1930) - 100% Handmade! - Acrylic painting · Signed by hand · 2026
A young boxer in the training room, red leather helmet on his head. He does not look at the painter: his eyes are turned toward the ring, of which one can glimpse the red rope. Behind him, the window light cuts large white swaths on the blue walls.
Since the boxing scenes painted by George Bellows in the early 20th century, the ring has been a theater of courage. Le Yack does not paint the fight but the exact moment before: the concentration, the nerves, what we tell ourselves before entering. The “red corner” is the side of the ring where one waits for one’s turn.
The vivid red of the helmet bursts against the cool blues of the room, laid down in broad luminous strokes that give the canvas a great freshness.
Mixed technique: original acrylic painting, varnish.
Support: premium canvas stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang.
Format: 40 × 60 cm.
Signed HAL SUNDAY · Galerie Labo Joconde / Atelier Joconde · certificate of authenticity provided.
HAL SUNDAY is one of the creations bringing together artists Le Yack, Neo Pablo and Popsan within Atelier Joconde, a family studio where three sensibilities coexist: neo-realism, pop and libre figurative. Under the name HAL SUNDAY, the Atelier revives the muted America of the 1930s-40s and the legacy of Edward Hopper: solitary figures, natural light that sculpts the moment, inhabited silences and restrained melancholy, in the lineage of American scene painting.
Each work is a unique piece.
