Description from the seller
Work by Babu Bommel (other works by this artist have already been sold on Catawiki) born in 1936
Lives and works in Sète
Babu, born in Dunkirk in 1938, begins his professional activity teaching drawing, then photography.
Two major exhibitions at the Centre International de Séjour in Paris, then at Fnac Montparnasse (titled: “The New Photographic Works”), will be devoted to him.
After illustrating books, in particular “Le Hata Yoga bien tempéré”, Graphic Art Prize at PUF, he specialized in medical iconography, then created a cancer prevention space of which he is the head of department.
Upon settling in La Pointe Courte in Sète, he returned to his first loves and has since continued to produce.
He holds several exhibitions in his studios in Sète and Montpellier, refusing to belong to the gallery networks until the “benevolent persistence” of Catherine Pennec managed to convince him (says Babu).
His palette is luminous and invites us to explore blues, greens, and rust tones as one would explore the seabed, endlessly amazed by the atmospheres, colors, and beams of light.
The work is painted in acrylic on a piece of wood
It is mounted on a plinth
