Description from the seller
Antique silver men's open-face pocket watch, dating from around 1900. The exterior of the back is finished with refined guilloché work and centered with an elegant floral-engraved cartouche, which has been left unfilled. The inside of the back cover bears the official Swiss goose hallmark, the German Reich hallmark (crescent moon and crown), and the silver purity mark 0.800. The serial number 87294 is also found here beneath a maker's stamp (Galonne). The inner cover opens to reveal a metal dust cover (cuvette) with the elegant engraving “Cylindre 10 rubis.”
The white enamel dial is in tidy, original condition and features large, flowing Arabic numerals, with gold-colored minute markings along the outer edge. The time is indicated by finely crafted, openwork 'Louis XV'-style hands in a rose-gold tone. A recessed sub-seconds dial is positioned at 6 o'clock. The edge of the watch case has a subtle rose-gold plating (Galonné finish), giving the watch a luxurious two-tone appearance.
The mechanical Swiss movement features a cylinder escapement and is fitted with 10 rubies (rubis), as stated on the dust cover. The balance cock is beautifully hand-engraved and fitted with a fine regulator marked A/F (Avance/Fast) and R/S (Retard/Slow). The wheels and plates have a classic matte gold finish. The movement is in clean, visually and mechanically complete collector's condition.
