Description from the seller
Antique silver open-face gentleman’s pocket watch by the renowned German manufacturer Junghans, dating from around 1910–1920. The exterior of the rear cover is decorated with finely detailed guilloché work and centered with an elegantly styled, blank cartouche featuring a bow motif. The inside of the cover bears the official German imperial silver hallmark (crescent moon and crown), alongside the silver fineness mark 0.800. The serial number C221900 is also stamped here and appears in part on the edge of the case. The watch is fitted with a smooth, polished metal inner or dust cover.
The white enamel dial is in excellent, original condition and stands out for its clean, Art Deco–style typography. The hours are marked with large, italicized Arabic numerals, complemented by a minimalist minute track around the outer edge. The time is indicated by the original gold pear-shaped (poire) hands. At the 6 o’clock position is a recessed subsidiary seconds dial with a clear scale of its own. The dial is completely free of hairline cracks or edge damage.
The mechanical movement is a beautifully preserved original Junghans caliber, as evidenced by the stylized, flowing Junghans signature logo engraved on the plate. The movement bridge is marked with movement number 0291449. It is a high-quality lever movement, with a gold-colored frosted finish on the bridges, contrasting with the sunburst finish on the steel winding wheels. The movement features a fine regulator marked A/F (Avance/Fast) and R/S (Retard/Slow) and is in very clean, well-kept collector’s condition, both visually and mechanically.
