In Les Objets, still life ceases to be descriptive and becomes a visual reconstruction exercise, where everyday objects acquire a new identity through geometric fragmentation and chromatic freedom. The work engages in a dialogue with the tradition of synthetic cubism, reinterpreting its principles from a contemporary sensibility that favors a balance between abstraction and recognition.
The composition gathers a guitar, a tall-necked container, and a fruit form on a structure of overlapping planes that challenges conventional perspective. Outlines are interrupted, volumes shift, and surfaces interlace, creating a pictorial architecture in which each element participates in a deliberately ambiguous spatial organization. The guitar, positioned diagonally, introduces an upward movement that contrasts with the container’s verticality and the base’s stability.
The color palette combines luminous blues, soft greens, intense pinks, and warm oranges, articulated by black surfaces that add depth and definition. The alternation of curved and angular forms establishes a dynamic rhythm, while visible brushstrokes and varying textures preserve the spontaneity of the painting gesture.
Les Objets offers a reflection on painting’s capacity to transform the ordinary into a purely visual experience. Deprived of their usual context, the objects cease to be simple recognizable elements and become protagonists of an autonomous universe, where color, geometry, and imagination reorganize our perception of reality.
