AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

An exceptional opportunity to acquire a rare and historically significant triple-case pocket watch, crafted by the legendary London watchmaker George Prior (active late 18th to early 19th century). This exquisite model was custom-made for the luxury market of the Ottoman Empire and has survived in remarkable condition.
Technical Specifications & Features:
• Movement: Premium gilt-brass Verge Fusee movement. A true masterpiece of horology, featuring intricate, hand-pierced, and deeply engraved balance cock and plates in the traditional English period style. It is officially signed "George Prior, London" and bears its original serial number.
• Dial: Authentic white enamel dial decorated with traditional Ottoman numerals and markers. Features a crisp "George Prior London" signature. Both original blue-steel hands (beetle and poker style) are present and intact.
• Cases: A complete, matching triple-case structure. The inner two cases are crafted from solid silver. The protective outer case is decorated with genuine tortoiseshell, secured with fine silver pins (pique work). The interior of the outer case retains its original red textile protective lining used to cushion the cases.
• Key: Please note that the original period winding key is missing. However, the watch comes together with a proper fitting winding key so it can be fully operated.
Condition Report:
• Movement: COMPLETELY RUNNING. The watch has been tested, starts easily, and runs. Due to its historical nature and antique oils, a professional service/oil update is recommended if you intend to run it continuously.
• Dial: Shows fine hairline cracks in the enamel consistent with its age, as clearly visible in the macro photographs. The enamel structure remains stable with no missing chunks or exposed copper.
• Cases: The silver cases retain a beautiful, genuine aged patina. The outer tortoiseshell case exhibits typical age-related cracks, historical wear, and small minor losses of organic material around some silver pins. This is completely normal for a 200+ year-old organic material (please study the photos carefully).
A magnificent specimen of historical horology, ready to anchor an elite pocket watch collection.
Shipping & Packaging: The watch will be packed with the utmost care, protecting each case layer individually in bubble wrap to prevent pressure. Shipped exclusively via premium international express courier (DHL / FedEx / UPS) with a tracking number and fully insured for the final auction value.
