AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Rare service of 28 faience dinnerware pieces "Terre de Fer" - H.B. & Cie Choisy-le-Roi - Model "Oiselets" - Late 19th Century
Magnificent and important 28-piece fine faience table service in "Terre de Fer", produced by the prestigious French manufacture H.B. & Cie in Choisy-le-Roi (Hipployte Boulanger period, late 19th century, circa 1880-1900).
This lot highlights the celebrated model “Oiselets”, sought after for its bucolic charm and its refined execution. Each piece features a superb polychrome design depicting small perched birds, enhanced by a shaped rim with a burgundy/purple edge typical of the manufacture. The service offers a very beautiful variety of different bird motifs, ideal for setting a table with character.
All pieces bear the official black‑stamp backmark: "Terre de Fer - H.B. & Cie - Oiselets" as well as impressed numbers molded in the clay, guaranteeing their authenticity.
Composition and dimensions of the lot (28 pieces):
• 24 large plates (dishes): Diameter 24 cm
• 3 small dessert plates: Diameter 20 cm
• 1 cake plate (or tart plate): Diameter 23 cm
Condition:
Good overall condition for faience over 130 years old. They retain a superb gloss and vivid colors. Natural crazing of the glaze (usage cracks under glaze) is noted, which attests to their age and authenticity. There are slight age stains, small chips or nicks on some plates.
