Description from the seller

Impressionist painting titled 'Dachauer Bauernhof im Vorfrühling' by Anna Sailer-Uehlein (Germany, c. 1876 – early 20th century). Oil on canvas. Lower left signed in full 'A. Sailer-Uehlein' (see detail photo). Annotation on the back: handwritten original title and artist's name on the stretcher. Condition: in good condition with some glaze craquelure. Frame with small damages.

The German woman artist Anna Uehlein mainly painted landscapes and village scenes in an impressionistic and naturalistic style. She was active at the beginning of the 20th century within the artists' networks of Munich and Karlsruhe. She moved to the Dachau artists' colony to paint en plein air (outdoors). Female painters in that region were also called 'Malweiber' at the time. In 1906 she exhibited at the Munich Jahresausstellung in the Glaspalast, in 1907 in Cologne she is registered as an artist from Karlsruhe at the Deutsche Kunstausstellung with her painting 'Letzter Schnee', and in 1909 she participated in the progressive Munich Secession in Munich with the work 'Dämmerung'.

This atmospheric, early 20th-century oil painting depicts a sunny farmyard in the Dachau region (Bavaria, Germany) during the early spring.
