Belgian school (XX) - Dorpsplein met witgekalkte huizen en rode daken

Oil painting on panel of a square with whitewashed houses, red-tiled roofs, green shutters and doors, and one tree on a cobbled square. Signed bottom right in red.

The work is thickly painted and rendered in a direct style, with a bright color scheme of red, white, green and blue-grey. The paint layer has evident relief, especially on the roofs and in the sky.

Framed in a gilded wooden frame with a cream-colored speckled inner mat. On the back of the frame is the label of the Brussels framemaker Nicolas Dechamps. Panel size is 39x32 cm.

Condition: the paint layer is stable and textured; the work would benefit from a cleaning. Frame shows signs of wear.
