Herman Brood (1946-2001) - Faces

Original painting by Herman Brood, acrylic on canvas, 1999, 100 x 120 cm. Unique work: Herman placed here for the first time – and, as later proved, the only time – 'blocks' that he then filled in separately. Five blocks were incorporated into a face; for the others he used tools and gears as a template. During its creation he said that with his work he was entering 'a very different, new phase'.
