Description from the seller
Extraordinary Late Victorian Ring (Late 19th Century) in 18kt Gold with 2.12 ct No-Heat “Pigeon Blood” Ruby and Old Mine Diamonds
An exceptional collector’s piece: an authentic late Victorian-era trilogy ring (late 19th century), entirely handcrafted in 18kt yellow gold. The jewel features an exceptionally rare 2.12 ct natural, unheated (No Heat) ruby with the prestigious “Pigeon Blood” classification, flanked by two important Old Mine-cut antique diamonds totaling 0.70 ct. Accompanied by a GUILD GEM Gemological Certificate.
Lot Description
This ring embodies the essence of late 19th-century Victorian jewelry. Its substantial, sumptuous original 18kt yellow gold setting features the classic and exceptionally elegant three-stone design, with open-sided settings that allow light to pass through the gems and bring out their intrinsic brilliance to the fullest.
At the heart of the composition sits a 2.12-carat natural ruby with extraordinary gemological characteristics. The gem stands out for its superb color saturation, certified as Vivid to Deep Red “Pigeon Blood”—the most precious, noble, and sought-after hue in the world. The fact that the ruby is completely natural and unheated (No Heat) places it firmly among a very exclusive group of investment-grade gems.
Crowning this work of art, two splendid, luminous natural Old Mine-cut diamonds are set on either side of the ruby. Their distinctive period facets and high profile create a magnificent, warm, and magnetic contrast with the vivid red of the central stone.
