Colorful, detailed, and with unmistakable humor, Charles Fazzino presents in “Strolling P-Town” a vibrant street scene from Provincetown (Cape Cod). Typical for Fazzino's iconic 3D Pop Art, numerous image elements protrude plastically and give the work an extraordinary sense of depth.
What you see is a charming coastal town with its characteristic buildings, cafés, delicatessen shops and restaurants such as “Lobster Pot,” “Bubala’s” or “Front Street Rest.” In the background, a lighthouse and a church tower rise, while boats gently rock in the harbor. The scene is brought to life by pedestrians, dogs, and colorful pennant bunting. Sparkling accents emphasize roofs, flags and clouds and enhance the three-dimensional effect.
The work combines Fazzino's typical architectural exaggeration with humorous details and a summery, lighthearted atmosphere. The multilayer handcraft and the intense colors make every copy a vivid eye-catcher.
Charles Fazzino (born 26.02.1955, New York) is an American Pop Art artist and a pioneer of 3D Pop Art. He gained international fame for his hand-cut, multi-layered paper reliefs that depict urban motifs—especially New York City—in colorful, detailed, and playful fashion. His works are exhibited worldwide and are part of numerous private as well as institutional collections. Pop art along the lines of Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Robert Indiana, Roy Lichtenstein.
