Description from the seller

This piece is carved from a piece of genuine thuya burl, one of the most precious and sought-after woods in the world, sourced exclusively from Morocco.

The wood has been worked in keeping with its original form: the organic and irregular contour of the root is preserved, and the hollowed part highlights the heart of the burl. The surface, finely polished and satin-finished, reveals all the richness of the wood, in deep tones of amber, copper and mahogany, with superb play of light.

The mottling, small knots and swirls visible on the surface are not painted or drawn: they are the natural marks of the burl, presented as they appeared in the wood. No piece resembles another, which makes this piece unique and impossible to reproduce.

The thuya burl is a true rarity. It develops slowly in the stump and roots of old trees, often centuries old, and it takes decades, or even centuries, for it to reach a size large enough to be worked. Only a tiny portion of trees produce it, which makes it a rare, limited material and increasingly difficult to find.

Another asset: the thuya emits a natural wooden fragrance, warm and pleasant, which delicately perfumes its surroundings. An authentic scent, native to this noble wood, that lasts over time.

This piece can be displayed as a decorative object, placed on a coffee table, a console or a shelf, where it will serve as a true natural sculpture. It can also be used as a catchall or decorative bowl to hold keys, jewelry or small objects. A fine acquisition for lovers of beautiful materials, natural pieces and exceptional craftsmanship.
