Description from the seller

This piece is carved from a piece of genuine thuya burl, one of the most precious and sought-after woods in the world, originating exclusively from Morocco.

The wood has been worked to respect its natural form: the organic and irregular contour of the root is preserved, and the hollowed part highlights the heart of the burl. The surface, finely polished and satin-finished, reveals the full richness of the wood, in deep tones of amber, copper, and mahogany, with superb play of light.

The specks, small knots, and swirls visible on the surface are neither painted nor drawn: they are the natural marks of the burl, presented as they appeared in the wood. No piece looks like another, which makes this item unique and impossible to reproduce.

The thuya burl is a true rarity. It grows slowly in the stump and roots of old trees, often centenarians, and it takes decades, even centuries, for it to reach a size large enough to be worked. Only a tiny portion of trees yield it, making it a rare, limited material and increasingly difficult to find.

Another asset: thuya releases a natural woody fragrance, warm and pleasant, which delicately scents its surroundings. An authentic scent, unique to this noble wood, that lasts over time.

This piece can be displayed as a decorative object, placed on a coffee table, a console, or a shelf, where it will serve as a true natural sculpture. It can also be used as a catch-all or decorative bowl to hold keys, jewelry, or small items. A beautiful acquisition for lovers of fine materials, natural pieces, and exceptional craftsmanship.
