Description from the seller
Monumental pair of bronze chandeliers finely chased with putti and Rococo volutes (15 + 12 lights) – Italian fusion tradition, mid-20th century
Historical and Artistic Framework:
This imposing pair of chandeliers fully belongs to the great tradition of high bronze-work and Italian artistic foundry of the mid-1900s. The design openly draws inspiration from the prestigious models of French Rococo (Louis XV style), characterized by rich and exuberant plastic decoration.
The true collectible asset lies in the presence of full-body putti/amorini figures positioned along the central stem: a classic iconographic reference symbolizing grace and lightness, typical of furnishings in noble houses and ballrooms. The bronze workmanship features curved arms adorned with acanthus scrolls and hand-chiseled beading, capable of creating an extraordinary play of light and shadow and a visually striking presence.
Details of the Lot and Measurements:
1. Large Chandelier:
Height: 95 cm
Width / Diameter: 93 cm
Light Points: 15 lights (arranged on double-tier arms for a majestic luminous effect)
2. Small Chandelier:
Height: 75 cm
Width / Diameter: 65 cm
Light Points: 12 lights
Condition:
The chandeliers are in excellent structural condition, preserving the original patina of the bronze with warm gold hues aged over time. The period electrical system is present with candle-style lampholders (an electrical system check is recommended before final installation).
Shipping:
A tailor-made, professional, and ultra-resistant packing will be provided (with disassembly or dedicated protection of the most delicate parts) to ensure integrity during transport. Tracked and insured shipment with express courier.
The two chandeliers together weigh more than 30 kg
