Description from the seller
Pair of Solid Brass Wall Sconces – Mythological Mascaron Style
Sublime pair of antique wall sconces in solid brass, distinguished by their fascinatingly sculpted faces.
The relief of the mascarons irresistibly evokes the figure of Medusa or a sea deity, with organic features and a wavy headdress reminiscent of tentacles or snakes.
Pieces of character, perfect for a Cabinet of Curiosities decoration, a baroque interior, or a dim, mystical atmosphere.
Sculpted faces: expressive details (round eyes, prominent cheekbones) surrounded by foliate scrolls.
Material: heavy brass with an authentic golden patina.
Structure: Elegantly curved arms ending in a chased cup.
Dimensions & Weight
Total weight: 900 g (nice heft).
Length of the support (face): 23 cm.
Width: 9.5 cm.
Projection (arm length): 14 cm.
Condition
Very good vintage condition. The supports are drilled for easy wall mounting. Authentic objects with a patina that highlights every detail of the faces.
