Pair of Art Nouveau-style decorative bird figures in bronze, dating from 1970–1980.
Description from the seller
Pair of decorative bird figures made in bronze during the second half of the 20th century, pieces of modernist inspiration that reinterpret with great freedom the ornamental elegance of oriental pheasants. Their design combines naturalism and stylization, characteristic of the decorative language inherited from Art Nouveau, where organic shapes and flowing lines take on an absolute prominence.
The sculptures feature slender bodies and long tails of marked movement, modeled with meticulous chiseling work that reproduces the plumage through richly detailed textures. The chromatic contrast stands out between the golden tones applied on heads and tails and the intense greenish patina of the body, evoking the effects of natural aging of bronze and adding an attractive visual richness. The eyes, resolved through small touches of blue, add a delicate point of light and expressiveness to the whole.
The composition conveys a sense of dynamism and lightness, as if the birds were advancing in a calm stride, while the sinuous silhouette of their tails reinforces the decorative and elegant character of the pieces. The ornamental treatment of the feathers, far from aiming for a strictly zoological reproduction, responds to an artistic sensibility clearly linked to the modernist taste for idealized nature and stylized forms.
They are kept in generally good condition, with slight signs of use appropriate to their age and a patina that helps enhance their decorative appeal. A particularly striking pair, suitable for enriching eclectic, modernist, or Hollywood Regency-inspired interiors, bringing color, refinement, and personality to display cabinets, sideboards, or shelves.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
