Description from the seller
Yoshitomo Nara - Thinking my home
Official poster
High-quality offset print
Poster size: 36.4 cm x 51.5 cm
In Thinking My Home, Nara deploys a recurring motif, that of the house or the home, to explore themes of identity, belonging, and memory. The work translates what the artist himself calls “the home” not only as a physical place but as a mental, emotional, and mnemonic space.
The central figure, often childlike, looks at or contemplates a minimalist background, which creates a void around it: this void emphasizes loneliness, nostalgia, and even existential questioning. The title suggests a thought directed toward the home (“My Home”): evoking reflection on one’s past, on one’s roots, and on the relationship to “home” that changes, or is lost or transformed.
Will be carefully packaged for shipping.
Yoshitomo Nara is a major figure in contemporary Japanese art, known for his childlike characters with ambivalent expressions, blending innocence and rebellion. His visual universe, influenced by pop culture and punk, dialogues with artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami, or Takeru Amano. On the international stage, his work resonates with Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, or KAWS. He also shares affinities with Banksy, Invader, or D*Face, while influencing object culture through brands like Bearbrick and Richard Orlinski.
