Serena Grassetti’s sculpture Silent Agony is a hand-signed, limited edition of 50, made from resin in 2026.
Description from the seller
Silent Agony
There is a form of pain that leaves no visible trace, yet it changes the way we inhabit our bodies.
In Silent Agony, the hands contort in a gesture charged with tension, as if something from within were desperately seeking a way out. The figure seems suspended between the need to free itself and the impossibility of giving voice to what it feels.
It is not merely an image of suffering. It is the portrait of an inner condition that many know: emotional fatigue, the weight of thoughts, the moment when continuing to hold back what one feels becomes almost unbearable.
The hands take on the role of an invisible face. In their twist, what words fail to contain is manifested, transforming a private sensation into a physical, concrete presence, impossible to ignore.
The sculpture invites us to recognize that fragile and authentic part that we often hide in order to continue to appear strong in the eyes of others. It offers no answers nor seeks consolation: it gives shape to a human experience that rarely dares to show itself.
In Serena Grassetti’s exploration, matter becomes the place where the invisible takes form and emotion becomes language.
Because sometimes what we cannot say is exactly what most deeply represents us.
Material: resin and marble dust
Edition: LIMITED to 50 pieces.
* Original piece signed by the artist, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
SERENA GRASSETTI — CONTEMPORARY ARTIST
Serena Grassetti is an Italian contemporary artist whose research investigates the complexity of the human being, exploring identity, memory, fragility and inner transformation through a personal and multidisciplinary artistic language.
Born into art, trained at the Art Institute of Macerata, she has developed over the years a deep knowledge of the material and its expressive possibilities, experimenting with painting, sculpture, modeling, resins, charcoal and techniques related to Natural Art. This experience constitutes the foundation of a practice in which the material is not a simple support, but an integral part of the meaning of the work.
At the center of her research is the body understood as a psychological and symbolic space: a presence capable of manifesting what words cannot express. Through incomplete figures, gestures charged with tension and forms that oscillate between presence and dissolution, Grassetti gives visual substance to the deepest states of human experience.
Her work places itself in the international dialogue of sculpture and contemporary figurative art, thematically related to the research of Rabarama, Berlinde De Bruyckere and Xiang Jing, while the comparison with Andy Warhol, Banksy and KAWS opens a reflection on the different ways in which contemporary art interprets identity and the human condition.
With works presented in exhibition contexts in Italy and abroad, Serena Grassetti develops a research aimed at going beyond superficial representation to reach a more intimate and universal dimension. Her poetics are founded on a fundamental principle: to give form to what is not seen, but which profoundly determines what we are.
