Description from the seller
Selwyn Senatori – monumental original work – 250 × 250 cm
An imposing, original work by the Amsterdam-based artist Selwyn Senatori. The work consists of two painted panels, each 250 × 125 cm, with a total dimension of 250 × 250 cm.
The work is not new and is in reasonable condition. The panels are warped. Through the holes already present they can be mounted on the wall. Please view the photos carefully for a good impression of the work’s condition.
Due to its large size, pickup in Eindhoven is preferred. Viewing is possible by appointment. Any shipping can be arranged after the auction in consultation.
Selwyn Senatori (Pallanza, Italy, 1973) is a Dutch-Italian artist who lives and works in Amsterdam. He studied illustrative design at the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU). His background as an illustrator is reflected in the direct, narrative way he presents subjects in visual form.
Senatori is considered part of neo-pop art. His main source of inspiration is la dolce vita: the good life, with tasty food, wine, music, film, design and his Italian roots as recurring themes. In his work, Italian joie de vivre and Amsterdam’s urban life come together.
His paintings are characterized by a loose, expressive painting style, bold colors and often handwritten texts. He mainly works with acrylic, but also uses chalk, pencil and spray paint. His creativity is not limited to the canvas: objects such as champagne bottles, Vespas and cars also serve as surfaces.
Although his work at first glance often appears exuberant and festive, behind that joie de vivre lies sometimes a more personal story.
