DESCRIPTION:
This original work by Ralf Altrieth 펼 deploys a lush universe where figures, sketched characters, signs and abstract forms intersect in an incessant play of lines and colors. Some presences stand out clearly, while others remain half-hidden in the material. The gaze moves freely, shifting from one apparition to another without ever exhausting the richness of the composition.
Between free figuration, instinctive drawing and graphic poetry, the work does not aim to impose a specific reading. It instead allows the imagination to establish its own associations.
Through its energy and visual density, it first attracts with its abundance and colors, then holds the eye with the multitude of details and presences that gradually reveal themselves.
At the boundary between drawing and painting, this work bears witness to a deeply personal language of Ralf Altrieth: a free and instinctive creation, where gesture, imagination and matter meet without ever losing their spontaneity.
CRITIQUE:
"There is a lot of poetry in this painting, as in all of this artist’s works. They are inhabited by narrative codes and fantastical tales. In this sense, Ralf Altrieth’s pictorial poems are a pure childish chorus… But the most astonishing thing that manifests in these paintings is a communicative tenderness for the states of mind of the human being."
— Dr. Friedhelm Häring, museum director and art historian
"His writing through gesture and color describes a world open to new voices and to experiences never attempted. The canvases and works on paper by Ralf Altrieth demonstrate that painting remains a major expression of the contemporary scene."
— Laurent Puech, art historian and curator
BIOGRAPHY:
Ralf Altrieth (Heilbronn, 1966) is a Franco-German painter and musician recognized for his expressive and spontaneous universe, at the crossroads between figuration and abstraction. Trained in his teens with painter Georg Schaible and then at the Nürtingen School of Fine Arts in the late 1980s, his work is distinguished by rare pictorial energy and a particularly sensitive language. His works are now in numerous private collections around the world.

It is entrusted to an express carrier providing home delivery, with full tracking and signature on delivery, to guarantee the best protection of the artwork until it is handed over to the recipient.
NOTE ABOUT THE MARGINS:
There are two presentation options for this work:
- With matting: the outer margins of the paper will be concealed by the mat. Your local framer can handle this easily.
- Without matting with a frame 100 × 70 cm (see setup visuals): place the glass on the paper and cut the margins with a cutter. A pencil line (see visual) makes it easy to identify the boundary.
NOTE: The setup images are presentation suggestions created with AI based on photos of the actual work. Photos of the real object are authoritative (the complete work, close-up details, profile photos and the back signature). Colors may vary slightly depending on your screen’s color profile.
