Quality painting signed bottom left "V.Vidal" for Vincent Vidal In 1837, Vincent Vidal entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he studied under Paul Delaroche He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1843, quickly becoming a well-known portraitist and a skilled pastellist, moving in Parisian high society, painting for example Empress Eugénie de Montijo in 1857, and that of Alexandre Dumas in 1870.

Overall good condition, some wear and a relining to note.
