Cerdá Gironés’s original oil painting Paisaje manchego, a hand-signed landscape from 1970–1980, is sold framed.
Description from the seller
Artist: Cerdá Gironés, a Spanish painter from the second half of the 20th century, recognized for his landscapes, distinguished by their carefully rendered light and texture.
Artwork details: An oil-painted landscape executed using a pronounced impasto technique, giving the wheat fields in the foreground remarkable volume and texture.
The composition depicts the iconic silhouette of the hill at Consuegra, in Toledo, crowned by its historic windmills beneath a loosely sketched, luminous sky.
Dimensions:
WITH FRAME: 47X42
CANVAS: 24X19.5
Signature: Hand-signed by the artist (Cerdá Gironés) in the lower-right corner in a reddish pigment; the signature is fully legible.
Additionally, the lower mounting of the wooden mat features a metal plaque engraved with the name “Cerdá Gironés.”
Edition: Unique, original work.
Provenance: Private collection.
On the reverse of the work, directly on the stretcher and the back of the canvas, there are old inventory or mounting notes, specifically the number “7” written in black marker and a small red cross.
Condition: Conservation assessment: The work is in good condition.
The paint layer is completely stable and secure, with no signs of flaking, modern overpainting, or problematic cracking.
The canvas retains optimal structural tension on its original wooden stretcher.
The piece is delivered framed in a sturdy, classic moulding with fluted, stepped detailing in gold, bronze, and reddish tones; the frame has minor scuffs consistent with the passage of time, which do not detract from the overall presentation.
As is customary, the extensive image gallery provided is binding and forms an integral and inseparable part of the description of the item’s physical condition.
Shipping: The item will be packed to the highest professional standards by Tesoros y Subastas, ensuring complete protection for the canvas and mouldings. It will be shipped via a tracked, insured service, insured for the full hammer price and with a tracking number provided to the buyer.
The frame shown in the photographs has been added to the artwork to enhance its presentation and is included as a courtesy gift from the seller. It does not form an integral part of the auction lot. Any damage to the frame occurring during transit that does not affect the artwork itself will not be accepted as grounds for a claim or cancellation of the sale.
