French school (XX) - Paris 1961

French School - Paris 1961 - Watercolour and ink on paper

Description of the work:

This work is a lively and picturesque view of a Parisian street (typical of Montmartre districts or the grand boulevards), executed with vivid ink and watercolour. The drawing wonderfully captures the hustle and bustle of urban life in the mid-20th century, featuring period cars, passers-by and mobile stalls at the foot of Haussmann-style buildings under a textured, cloudy sky. The overall atmosphere is nostalgic and dynamic.
The work is signed and dated at the bottom left (1961).
The paper shows a slight natural waviness due to the use of watercolour, which confirms its authenticity. The overall condition is good, preserving the freshness of its contrasts.
