Broken Wall
Broken Wall arises from Mart Signed’s research into the relationship between street art, matter, and urban memory.
The project brings a fragment of the street language into homes, galleries, and private collections, transforming a surface marked by time into a contemporary art piece.
The wall is not just the support for the image, but becomes an integral part of the work.
Its surface, the cracks, the traces of time and the natural characteristics of the material preserve the link with the urban context from which street art is born.
The fracture thus becomes an element of the artistic language: the boundary between street and exhibition space is broken and the urban fragment finds a new place.
The Work
Each path is marked by a final gesture.
One single stroke of the brush transforms 22 into 33, turning a common number into a symbol.
An essential gesture that goes beyond the image: sacrifice, creation, hope, and memory meet in a single final sign.
The work does not demand an answer, but leaves each observer free to find their own interpretation.
The stencil is made directly on the support: this is not a print or a reproduction.
The work depicted in the photographs is exactly the one that will be received by the collector.
Materials and authenticity
The materials recovered from the street are chosen to maintain a living connection with the original language of street art.
Marks, abrasions, surface variations, irregularities, and natural imperfections are not defects but elements belonging to the material’s history and the work’s identity.
These characteristics are intentionally preserved and integrated into the creative process.
The work is signed, accompanied by the artist-signed certificate of authenticity, and delivered ready to hang.
The frame is not included, unless otherwise indicated for the specific exemplar.

The artist
Mart Signed is an Italian street artist active internationally.
His works are part of private collections in numerous countries, and his artistic research develops around the concept “Where Are You Street Art?”: bringing the language and matter of the street inside homes, galleries, private collections, and spaces traditionally distant from the urban context.
Over the years, Mart Signed has developed an international presence through collaborations and relationships with various realities in the art world.
His research connects street art, urban memory, recovered materials, and space transformation.
In 2023, Mart Signed also participated in a documentary dedicated to Banksy and the street art culture.

Edition and uniqueness
Broken Wall comprises a limited series of 20 unique works.
Each piece is produced individually, and no two pieces can be identical. The shape of the support, the breaks, the surface, the marks, the imperfections, and the material characteristics naturally vary from one work to another, making each piece unrepeatable.
The 20 works share the same artistic project and the same conceptual core, but each retains its own physical and visual identity.
They are therefore not 20 copies or reproductions of the same work, but 20 unique and different pieces, all belonging to the Broken Wall series.
Each work is identified by a specific code shown on the certificate of authenticity.
